The Smith Family
Tradition
|
When J. Coke Smith set up his tripod and skillfully sighted his
first property line in 1909, automobiles still were novelties
in Pickens County and life was more simple. In fact, J. Coke
was the surveyor for the first paved road, U.S. 29, through Anderson
County. It was a time when a man's word was his contract.

J. Coke Smith, First Generation:
"We do it right, we do it quick and we do it at a reasonable
price." |
A lot of things have changed in the last 90 years since J. Coke
Smith founded a company and a family tradition. At Smith
Surveyors, Inc., though, some things have remained unaltered by
the passing years.
For three generations, from J. Coke Smith who ran the company
until 1954, to John C. Smith who joined his father in the business
in 1945 and retired in 1991, to J.C. Smith, the current owner,
accuracy, honesty, promptness and reliability are as much a part
of Smith Surveyors, Inc. as the family name. |
 |
John C. Smith, Second Generation:
"Our turn around time is second to none!" |
